We got gruel this morning 24th

It is just dog food put through the juicer and mixed with our goats milk formula.  We had fun figuring out what it was and how to eat it.  It gets all over us so we have to lick it off but we ate most of it in the end.

Sorry the radio is so loud, next time I will turn it off.

Wed 23rd day

New Bigger Pen
We still want to huddle but might drink water.
We are a bit immature for this big open space.
Soon we will eat gruel

We are not sure what is going on here, not quite mature enough, but mom wants to feed us gruel so we have to be in this pen.

Desi is not going to clean up after them once they eat food, not that she was to good at it anyway.

Eventually I will put shavings at the other end where we have to learn to go potty.

So it is Monday the start of wk 4 for the pups 10-21-24

So now you can start to see what these babies look like, which will change a lot in the next couple of weeks

but meanwhile all the eyes and ears are open.  They all respond to high pitched baby talk and pretty soon I

will be saying ….  Treat, Treat, Treat every time I feed them something because down the road they may not

come to their names but they will come to the Treat word.

Sat day 19 for the Desi/Prince Pups

The pups have opened their eyes but I am still supplementing a couple of them.  Some have also opened their hearing too.  They now make noises when they hear things and I have the radio on all day.  Soon they will be up on their feet and really moving around.  Soon I will be putting the whelping box away and setting up the 4×8 play pen, with one end for learning to go potty.

Sunday 13th day

We made big strides this week.  All the pups are thriving and gaining weight.  No eyes open as yet but this coming week that will happen.  The biggest advance was mom becoming more maternal and started licking and cleaning her pups.  They have become real to her finally.  You can see they are also becoming more sable looking with the merling becoming less obvious.  They are really pretty pups looking at them from the show/standard world.  There are two boys who have not needed any help what so ever they help themselves to mom anytime she is available.  The little girl is now gaining wt quickly to catch up.

I wanted to mention to those getting one of these pups that their 8 wks vet checks and 1st vaccines are scheduled for Nov. 22 a Friday, so they can go to their new homes after that but that is Thanksgiving Week so if you have big plans then they can wait until the next week to leave so they do not have a lot of exposure to outside dogs or people that first week.
