Not much going on with the pups.  They are starting to learn to move more easily, eat more solid food, and generally gaining weight much more quickly.

Nov 1st  They are responding to calls of puppy and treat when I feed them, setting the stage for later calling.  They are figuring out that the back part of the pen is for potty but it takes a while, I just use newspaper at first easier to deal with but soon I will change over to shavings which gets everywhere they go.  By 6 wks they will be using it regularly.  Right now some of them will poop in there but is much to far to travel when they wake from a nap and have to pee right now.  They do move to  the disposable pad off their beds at least.

The small crate is teaching them about crate training for the future.  They must travel in a crate in the car and have a crate in their new homes as a safe place to be when necessary.  At 7 wks I will start teaching them to eat in individual crates and eventually sleep in them overnight.  I also have a whole new play area in the basement they are not ready for as yet.  They will learn steps once they go down there too.  Leash training will be harder but hope we have fairly nice weather in later Nov.  They will not get to spend their days in an outside pen where everyone comes to visit them and all kinds of noise it a part of the day but if  we get some nice days I will give them a chance.

We got gruel this morning 24th

It is just dog food put through the juicer and mixed with our goats milk formula.  We had fun figuring out what it was and how to eat it.  It gets all over us so we have to lick it off but we ate most of it in the end.

Sorry the radio is so loud, next time I will turn it off.

Wed 23rd day

New Bigger Pen
We still want to huddle but might drink water.
We are a bit immature for this big open space.
Soon we will eat gruel

We are not sure what is going on here, not quite mature enough, but mom wants to feed us gruel so we have to be in this pen.

Desi is not going to clean up after them once they eat food, not that she was to good at it anyway.

Eventually I will put shavings at the other end where we have to learn to go potty.

So it is Monday the start of wk 4 for the pups 10-21-24

So now you can start to see what these babies look like, which will change a lot in the next couple of weeks

but meanwhile all the eyes and ears are open.  They all respond to high pitched baby talk and pretty soon I

will be saying ….  Treat, Treat, Treat every time I feed them something because down the road they may not

come to their names but they will come to the Treat word.

Sat day 19 for the Desi/Prince Pups

The pups have opened their eyes but I am still supplementing a couple of them.  Some have also opened their hearing too.  They now make noises when they hear things and I have the radio on all day.  Soon they will be up on their feet and really moving around.  Soon I will be putting the whelping box away and setting up the 4×8 play pen, with one end for learning to go potty.
